Before Navratri, employees will receive a bonus, with salaries increasing by up to ₹11,000 – 7th Pay Commission
7th Pay Commission
There’s good news for millions of central railway employees. Before Dussehra, their bonus may increase, which could be highly beneficial for them in 2024.
All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra has made a significant demand regarding the bonus for railway employees for the financial year 2023-24. He has requested the removal of the estimated salary cap used for bonus calculation.
Demand for Minimum Salary Increase
Recently, railway employees made an important demand to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. They have requested that their annual Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) be calculated based on the 7th Pay Commission, as it is currently being calculated based on the 6th Pay Commission.
In a letter to the National Secretary-General, employees have officially communicated this demand.
This increase in the bonus could provide much-needed financial relief and motivate employees, especially as the festive season approaches.
The demand states that, under the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum salary of railway employees should be increased from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000, which has been effective since 2016.
If this demand is accepted, there could be an increase of approximately ₹11,000 in the minimum salary, which would significantly improve the living standards of the employees.
Support from AIRF
The All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) has also fully supported this demand. AIRF asserts that railway employees work tirelessly in all weather conditions and regions to ensure railway safety and passenger convenience. Therefore, they deserve better basic facilities and salaries to improve their financial situation.
Bonus Calculation Revision Demand
The Indian Railway Employees Federation has put forth a demand to revise the bonus calculation for railway employees. Currently, their bonus is calculated based on a monthly salary of ₹7,000 at the rate of ₹17,951. The federation is requesting that this bonus be recalculated based on 78 days instead of the current method.
The government is expected to make a significant decision regarding these demands soon. If these demands are accepted, it will benefit millions of railway employees by increasing their salaries and bonuses, thereby improving their living standards.
This will not only benefit the employees but is also expected to enhance the efficiency and services of Indian Railways.
